Blessed With Hope

Jeremiah 17:7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

To hope in the power of man or in things on the earth is to hope in that which cannot support us though all the trials of life. Cursed are all those who trust in the arm of the flesh. Cursed is the man who trusts in man and whose heart departs from the Lord. (Jeremiah 17:5). It is said the flesh is weak and so it is. We should therefore not put our trust in it. To trust in the power of man and things of earth is like leaning on a broken crutch. It might look like it might support us, but when we really need it pushing down with all our weight it will break under us and we will very likely be injured by the fall! The flesh is a deceiving support. Trust not in it.

The one who is truly blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord and whose hope the Lord is. To hope in the Lord is to renounce all other grounds of hope. This means we should not trust in our own righteousness, but in the righteousness of our Lord Jesus Christ alone.

Those who place their trust and hope in the Lord Jesus Christ will find that He is the everlasting rock of their salvation which will support them not only through this life, but also in the life to come.

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus name

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

Hope And Quietly Wait
Forsaking Our Hope
